Read Me Please

Welcome to the afternoon roundup. It’s hard to describe the insanity that exists out there in campaign world, except to say one thing: Obama is focusing on the economy, but could certainly use some more snap in his ads. Chris Matthews described him as “lacking passion” last night…I see a more somber candidate for a somber time….Barack does, however, need to connect better with grass roots supporters…mixing formal (but not TOO formal) speeches with more folksy town-hall meetings that will define him as an approachable candidate. The issue of his race no doubt contributes to some folk’s voting decision, but, for the most part, he needs to keep in high gear all the way to the election. Hammer McLie on his policies, MARGINALIZE Palin as an also-ran not worth discussing, and continue to talk, in EASY TO UNDERSTAND, sound-bite ready bites, in detail about his policies. He needs to disseminate the views of conservative and liberal economics experts that this policies are valid, and that McCain’s policies and solutions (such as they are) have been analyzed and found to be harmful. He should be sure to note the fact that as the economic position changes, he MAY have to adjust his policies to stay in step with the economy, and that the “MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY” approach, the immutable decision policies of McBush willl be a disaster for the economy.

Most of all, he needs to return to the Charismatic, but approachable, Barack that took him to the heights of popularity in the primaries, and he needs BILL CLINTON to be out there, in a VERY VISIBLE WAY, hammering home, in his Clintonian style, the connection with his era of prosperity and a Barack Obama presidency. This latter is very important.

And now, after my rantings, the roundup tidbits:
