My response:
So he can’t win for losing? Get over it. I’m reminded of the line at the end of Animal House. The guys are already fingered as trouble. They can’t do anything that won’t be categorized as troublemaking, and result in having Delta kicked off campus. Remember?:
“I’ve got news for you, pal. They’re going to nail us, no matter what we do. So we might as well have a good time.”
Translated into present day campaign stuff: Biden is the “bad man, insider”. He knows more, and it’s not nice to be smarter and more competent than your female opponent, no matter what her experience or qualifications. He’s a HIGHLY skilled debater. Not fair. The Rethugs are going to try to nail him. As you said, he’s screwed if he does, screwed if he doesn’t, screwed if she merely stands there looking bored. So, what’s to lose? LET BIDEN BE BIDEN. He wipes the floor with her, and gets criticized…..so what? Isn’t that better than deferring to her because of her incapacity to execute the office of Governor, much less VP, and her spectacularly unimpressive grasp of any issues whatsoever, ESPECIALLY foreign policy? He goes gentle……..and gets hammered by the Rethugs as being weak and not providing the “performance that the Democrats all expected”.
I may be off on this, but I say: I got news for you, Joe. The rethugs are going to nail you no matter what you do. So you might as well have a good time!
